Box Score Game Two

CHARLOTTE, NC-- After having its first six games rained out, the Bloomsburg University softball team finally got to play on Wednesday and swept a pair of games from Queens University of North Carolina by scores of 4-3 and 2-1.

In the opener, Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) hit a three-run homer and Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) went 3-3 with an RBI double to lead the Huskies to the win. Reed had her RBI double in the first inning, while Neyhard hit her homer in the fourth inning to give the Huskies a 4-0 lead. Queens came back with a run in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the seventh, but Bloomsburg held on for the victory.

Reed was the winning pitcher for the Huskies going the distance and striking out seven and did not walk anyone.

In the nightcap, Jenna Hampton's (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) two-run single in the fifth inning provided the Huskies with all the runs they would need in a 2-1 win. Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) and Neyhard both singled in the inning and came around to score on Hampton's single to center.

Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) picked up the win striking out a career-high 14 batters in the victory.

Bloomsburg, ranked 22nd in the country in Division II, will play at Catawba on Thursday at 2 p.m.
